Education and Resource Centre

We believe quality end-of-life care should be the norm.

Our Education Team is passionate about making this a reality by supporting the health and social care workforce.

The Education and Resource Centre at St Richard’s Hospice is a hub of excellence for professional development, evidence-based education, and training in palliative and end of life care.

We are happy to discuss creating bespoke training in palliative and end of life care to meet the needs of your workforce.

For us, innovation is key and we use a range of techniques to meet the needs of our learners.

In the past we have worked with residential and nursing care homes, hospitals, primary care teams, schools and more. We have a strong partnership with the University of Worcester, and previously delivered programmes at Foundation Degree and Postgraduate Degree level.

Project ECHO®

We, along with St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford and KEMP Hospice in the Wyre Forest, are a hub for project ECHO (extension for community healthcare outcomes). We use video conferencing technology to share knowledge and promote best practice. This resource is free of charge to Herefordshire and Worcestershire based healthcare staff.

Training and education events are hosted regularly, with the format being approximately 45 minutes of teaching on a specific subject, followed by a further 45 minutes of facilitated discussion and learning from each other.

We are currently running both the

  • monthly palliative and end of life ECHO hub, on the last Thursday of every month 2-3.30pm with a guest speaker and different topic each month
  • six-week end of life care programme, which has a different subject for each of the six weeks, these six sessions are then repeated in the next cohort of dates.
