A HOSPICE is appealing for businesses, schools, community groups and organisations to make it their charity of the year for 2025.
St Richard’s Hospice, based in Worcester, relies on fundraising, voluntary donations, gifts in Wills, and retail income to fund the majority of its care and services.
Ria Simons, Corporate Fundraiser at St Richard’s, said: “We are indebted to our fantastic community for helping us raise the funds needed to continue our care across Worcestershire.
“Selecting us as your charity of the year for 2025 could be a great way to give back and make a real difference to the lives of patients and their families.
“It can also be a fun way to engage your colleagues, students and friends through creative fundraising projects during the year.”
Organisations can support the hospice in a range of ways, such as through office fundraising, holding an event, sponsoring or taking part in a hospice event, providing raffle and auction prizes, and volunteering.
In return, organisations benefit from dedicated fundraising advice and support, positive PR and brand awareness through the hospice’s channels, the opportunity for talks and presentations by the St Richard’s team, and much more.
Among the companies which chose St Richard’s as their charity of the year in 2024 was Waterman Aspen, an engineering secondment specialist.

The team at Waterman Aspen took on a host of fundraising activities including an office Halloween fancy dress day (pictured above), sponsoring an act at Woo Fest music festival, donating auction prizes, entering a team into the hospice’s Paddle, Plod and Pedal challenge, and much more.
Staff also volunteered at the hospice’s donations processing warehouse in Leigh Sinton, near Malvern.
Hayley Sharp, Marketing and Communications Director at Waterman Aspen, said: “Every year our Waterman Aspen colleagues nominate a charity that is important to them, and we select one charity at random to dedicate all our fundraising to for the year.
“In 2024, St Richard’s Hospice was chosen and as usual, our colleagues threw themselves into fundraising in the form of a 60-mile cycle, skydive, family fundraising days, raffles and numerous social events.
“We’ve raised almost £21,000 and, in the process, involved colleagues, families and friends to be part of the fundraising journey.
“We’re so pleased to have been able to contribute to the amazing work that St Richard’s do for the community, and we’re proud to have made a difference.”
